We asked graduates to share their journey to graduation. Here is what Mabintu Kanu (Healthcare Management) had to say in her own words…

As a transfer student, I am beyond happy to say that my time at DU has been one for the books and I am extremely grateful to God for amazing faculty in University College.

After a year and a half, I am proud to say that I received a Masters of Science in Healthcare Management – Global Health. While it wasn’t an easy journey, facing illness off and on, with several hospital visits, and having to deal with harder days than others, we made it through.

I say “we” because I didn’t do this alone; with the ongoing support of my parents, my mother’s sweet care and consistent encouragement, my eldest sisters and their wisdom, my supportive boyfriend, and all of my amazing best friends, we did this! We received this Masters, thank God.

I remember sitting in the emergency room (one out of many times) and almost losing hope in my journey, but in that very moment, the discouragement was silenced and all that kept repeating was the phrase “endure and persevere.”

I am now beyond thankful to be a part of the class of 2020! We are surviving through many circumstances, including a world pandemic. Not only have we survived through graduate school, we have thrived. We did it!

Congratulations, Mabintu!
