This course examines Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) as enterprise-wide disciplines that support organizational resilience across a range of hazards and disruptions. Students explore continuity fundamentals, governance structures, and legal and regulatory considerations while progressing through the continuity lifecycle for a selected organization. The course emphasizes identification of Essential Functions and supporting activities, risk and hazard assessment, and Business Impact Analysis, with focused integration of disaster recovery planning for information technology and operational technology operations. Students evaluate organizational critical technologies, recovery priorities, communication continuity, and coordination with internal and external partners. Students apply course concepts by developing a complete Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) that incorporates an integrated Disaster Recovery (DR) plan and strategies for continuous improvement.
