Completed 24 quarter hours (16 semester hours) of transferable credit in academic subjects from a regionally accredited institution. If you have between 24 and 44 quarter hours, you may need to submit high school transcripts or official verification of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED) for financial aid verification purposes.

Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program at the College of Professional Studies are evaluated based on the following criteria:

International students applying to the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program at the College of Professional Studies are evaluated based on the following criteria.
- - Completed 24 quarter hours (16 semester hours) of transferable credit in academic subjects from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution. If you have between 24 and 44 quarter hours, you may need to submit high school transcripts for financial aid verification purposes.

  - At least three years of employment/professional experience.
  - English Proficiency
    Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Duolingo English Test (DET), or C1 Advanced are required of all graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship status, whose native language is not English or who have been educated in countries where English is not the native language. Applications will not be processed until the required TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, or C1 Advanced score is received. The TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, and C1 Advanced scores are valid for two years from the test date and are considered official only when received directly from the testing agency. We do not super score or accept test superscores (such as TOEFL MyBest Score).
    - The minimum TOEFL score accepted by the University is 80 (iBT) or 550 (pBT). Applicants should achieve at least 20 in all TOEFL subscores on the internet-based exam. When requesting official TOEFL scores, please refer to institutional code 4842 and department code 01 for graduate admissions.
    - IELTS: The minimum IELTS score accepted by the University is 6.5. Each individual band score must be 6.0 or higher.
    - C1 Advanced: The minimum C1 Advanced score accepted by the University is 176.
    - Duolingo English Test (DET): The minimum Duolingo English Test score accepted by the University is 115. Official Duolingo scores must be received for admission review.
      - For tests taken pre- July 1, 2024: A DET total score of 115 or higher. Each individual subscore must be 105 or higher for Literacy, Comprehension, and Conversation and 95 or higher for Production.
      - For tests taken post- July 1, 2024: A DET total score of 115 or higher. Each individual subscore must be 105 or higher for Literacy and Comprehension and 115 or higher for Conversation and Production.
    - English Language Exemption
      Exemptions: Applicants are generally exempt from the English proficiency test requirement if they have any of the following:
      - Secondary/high school diploma from a school where the language of instruction is English.
      - 30 semester credits of coursework from a university or college where English is the sole language of instruction and examination.
      - The admission committee reserves the right to request English proficiency scores when reviewing an admission application.

A personal statement (total of 450-500 words) written in your own words and unique voice, without the help of AI-based assistance, is required and submitted via the application status page. Your statement should address each of the following:

Official Transcripts

Submit one official transcript from each college or university where academic credit was earned. In order to be considered "Official" transcripts must be sent electronically by the issuing college or university using a third-party agency to PSCtranscript@DU.edu. Official transcripts may also be sent via postal mail in an unopened envelope that has been sealed by the issuing university.

English Proficiency

All applicants, regardless of citizenship status, whose native language is not English or who have been educated in countries where English is not the native language are required to submit proof of English Language Proficiency regardless of citizenship and/or U.S. residency. All materials submitted as part of any application for admission to the University of Denver become property of the University of Denver. Materials will not be copied, returned, or released to the applicant or any third party.

Transfer Credits

Past credits do not expire, but must meet three general criteria to transfer into the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program.

1) Subject Matter (the course must be comparable to a course taught at the University of Denver).

2) Accreditation (the institution where the credits were earned must hold regional accreditation, the highest level of accreditation offered or recognized internationally).

3) Grade Earned (only courses where a grade of C-/1.7 or better was earned will be eligible for transfer.

What is a preliminary transcript evaluation?

Our team will evaluate your unofficial transcripts from domestic institutions and determine an estimate of how many credits will transfer into the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program based on University of Denver requirements.

How many credits can I transfer into the program?

A maximum of 135 quarter hours (90 semester hours) of credit may be transferred. A maximum of 96 quarter hours (63 semester hours) may be transferred from a community college or other two-year college or institution. The final 45 quarter hours must be earned at the University of Denver.

What is the minimum number of credits I need to have for admission consideration?

You must have completed 24 quarter hours (16 semester hours) of transferable credits in academic subjects. Applicants with between 24 and 44 quarter hours must also submit high school transcripts or official verification of the High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).

How do semester and quarter hours convert?

1 semester hour is equivalent to 1.5 quarter hours.

Will you accept transfer credit from educational experiences in the armed forces?

Yes, transfer credit may be awarded for educational experiences in the armed forces. Courses must be in academic disciplines applicable to DU degrees and evaluated by the American Council on Education. A maximum of 10 ACE credits may be transferred.

How will my GPA be calculated once I'm in the Bachelor of Arts Completion Program?

Only grades received at DU will be used to calculate the overall grade point average. We know how important it is to get a fresh start.

Can you conduct a preliminary transcript evaluation for international transcripts?

International transcripts must undergo an internal international credential evaluation. The cost of the evaluation is covered by the $75 application fee. For this reason, we are unable to offer free preliminary transcript evaluations for international students.
