Rich Pochowicz
Bio
Rich Pochowicz is a senior-level human resources executive with a track record of partnering with senior management teams to provide strategic HR direction in professional services, health care, and product-oriented corporate environments such as IBM, Avis Rent-a-Car, G. D. Searle (Monsanto), and Mcdermott, Will & Emory (an international law firm).
Education
Rich earned his M.S. in Industrial Relations from Loyola University in Chicago, and his B.A. from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Professional Background
Rich has over 25 years of strategic and tactical experience in all major HR functional areas, including staffing/workforce planning, compensation/benefits design and administration, employee relations, training/employee development, safety and administrative services. He has worked in various HR capacities with IBM, GD Searle, Avis Rent-a-Car, two major law firms, Denver Metro Chamber, and currently with South Denver Anesthesiologists. At Avis Rent-a-Car he had responsibility for a $25M budget and 125 employee reports as Chicago City manager. He built two full-cycle HR functions at Denver Metro Chamber and Avis.
Rich has also been an adjunct faculty member teaching in the Strategic HR master’s degree program within at DU for 15 years and has received recognition as a Master Teacher. In addition, he was appointed by the Governor to the Merit System Council and was later named the Council’s Chairperson. He also was a founding member of the Diversity Initiatives Forum in partnership with the Denver Metro Chamber, DU, and major Denver area business organizations.
Helping Students Be Successful
Rich teaches his students the latest HR techniques with real-life examples and hands-on exercises. He is readily available via email and virtual office hours to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer insights from the corporate and non-profit worlds.
