Retirement Reimagined

Approaching retirement or recently retired? This engaging workshop is designed to help you uncover your passions, align your values with your new lifestyle, and explore meaningful ways to give back to your community. Whether you are seeking personal fulfillment, looking to contribute your expertise or hoping to leave a positive mark on your community, this workshop offers the tools and guidance to help you navigate this exciting phase of life with confidence and purpose.

Retirement Reimagined

Retirement Reimagined was created by two retired DU professors during a fellowship at the University of Chicago, where they focused on helping individuals navigate life transitions. Understanding that retirement brings unique lifestyle changes for everyone, the initiative offers a foundational course for a broad overview of the process, along with an interactive workshop that delves deeper into purpose, community engagement, and social impact. By blending practical skills with personal fulfillment, the program empowers participants to shape a retirement that aligns with their aspirations. From exploring new passions to fostering meaningful social connections, Retirement Reimagined embraces the many dimensions of this life stage.

“This retirement course is unlike any other. It helps you reframe aging, allowing you to make the most of this next stage of your life. Barb and Scott offer you tools and resources to help you transition to your most meaningful time of your life, encouraging you to reset your expectations on what’s ahead. This course challenges you to rethink what it means to ‘retire.’ Get ready for a powerful, fact-filled discussion on this next chapter in your life! Barb and Scott are masterful at conveying concepts in a dynamic and inspiring style.”

— Kim Downing

Build A Thoughtful Plan

“The “Retirement Journeys: New Horizons” course previously taught by Barb Kreisman was exceptional from a content, delivery, and relevance perspective. I realized that going through a major transition such as retirement requires a thoughtful plan that addresses the many stages of the process. This course enabled me to be intentional about this transition, including the emotional component. I really enjoyed the approach with its many methods of learning including informative presentations, readings, small group discussions, and excellent guest speakers deep in their knowledge of retirement and the aging process. Optional assignments and tools brought the material to life. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is starting to think about (or in the midst of) their retirement and transition journey.”

— Diane Breidenstein

Redefining Retirement

“Barb and Scott’s class really opened my eyes as to all the ways to explore the third half of life. I learned that for me, “retirement” really means reengagement in the world in a different way. Exploring new ways to enjoy this very special time in our lives.”

— Charlie Knight
